Solution – Got the error: Server Error while trying to obtain a website: Connection refused

Do you ever get such kind of errors on your Mobile Phone or Computer/Laptop while Browsing the Internet?

Do you see something similar to:

Got the error: Server Error
while trying to obtain http://www.google.com/
Connection refused

If yes, then you are not alone. Even we got the same error many times but then we deeply analyzed the issue and here are our observations, which might not help you get it resolved but at-least you will have an idea that why such error is coming. This could be a great help to the Normal Non-Tech-Savvy audience.

Here is the screenshot of a 4G Phone where same issue had forced us to roll our eyes:

Got the error Server Error while trying to obtain a website Connection refused

Steps to Reproduce the Error:

  1. Enable 4G LTE/3G or even 2G on your Smartphone
  2. Browse any website via any of the browsers (e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Opera Mini etc.) in your Phone or Dongle attached to the Computer/Laptop

Why this error comes:

According to our findings, such error could arise from any or combination of the below reasons:

  1. Issue on Phones and Dongle connected devices like Laptop or Desktop/PC:The Mobile Network Operator can have some issue on the towers nearest to your location, while providing Internet Access to the audience. In our case network operator was Airtel, and we faced this issue while we were traveling in NCR (from Delhi to Gurgaon – Near to Iffco Chowk). The error persisted more than 2 hours in normal day time: 11 AM to 1 PM.
  2. Issue on Phone Only:There might be the case where you have Rooted your Phone and installed Ad-Blocker Plus on it. In this case, if your Ad-Blocker Settings are not updated or not properly saved, it may lead to such kind of errors while browsing the Internet.

What could be the Resolution or Solution to resolve such errors:

  1. If you are getting the Connection refused bug onto your phone even if you haven’t yet changed or modified any core-Android file settings, then there is a high possibility that your Network Operator does have some issues in your locality. To just cross-verify, try Turning-on the Internet Data on another SIM Card, if you have the other. If another SIM can run your Internet, then certainly the issue is with the Network Operator of your previous SIM.Additionally, you can verify with your mate around that whether he/she is able to access the Internet or not.To resolve this, please call onto the Customer Care number of your Network Operator.

Customer Care No. of Different Mobile Network Operators in Delhi/NCR:

    Airtel Customer Care Number – 121 / 198 (Toll-Free), 9810198101 (Prepaid), 9810012345 (Postpaid)

Vodafone (Earlier Hutch/Essar) Customer Care Number – (+91 9811098110 from any phone or 199 chargeable at 50p for 3 minutes for agent access)

Idea Customer Care Number – 12345 (chargeable at 50p for 3 minutes for agent access)

Reliance Customer Care Number – *333 ( Chargeable at 50p / 3 min for Agent assistance ), or call 198 (toll free)

    Aircel Customer Care Number – 121 / 198 (Toll-Free) / 9716012345

BSNL Customer Care Number – Landline Call Center Number ‘1500’ Number ‘1800-345-1500’, BSNL Mobile all India Helpline Number ‘1503’ Number ‘1800-180-1503’

    Tata Docomo Customer Care Number – 1800 266 1515

Telenor India Customer Care Number – 198

MTS India Customer Care Number – 199 (Toll free from MTS) or 9136155155 (Voice), or 9136955955, 1800 2081 955 (Toll free)

    MTNL Customer Care Number – 1500, 1501, 1502, 1503, 1800111503 (Toll-Free)

  2. If above case is not applicable for you, then this must be a case of Rooting and Modifying the Android Native System Files. To resolve such errors,i. Backup your Full Phone-Data
ii. Perform the Factory-Reset to your Phone and Wipe the Internal Memory

This should resolve the problems that could have raised from Rooting and Installing any harmful or malicious apps onto your phone.

Hope this article helps you resolve the connection refused issue while surfing the internet.

Motorola Moto G3 Vs Samsung Galaxy J7 – DNA Test

In India, budget smartphone arena has been enriched with a number of phones hitting the shelves via online as well as offline channels. From Samsung to Lenovo, leading smartphone makers have created a perfect ecosystem for buying an ideal phone with utmost ease. Few days back, the Lenovo-owned company, Motorola unveiled its latest Moto G (Gen 3) in the budget segment. The device packs a combination of top-grade specs and decent pricing, and goes straight against the new selfie-focused beauty from Samsung, Galaxy J7.

While Galaxy J7 packs an improved camera setup, Moto G (Gen 3) focuses more on improved user-experience with smooth and glitch-free performance. Both phones go head to head, but there prices differ by a small margin.

To know whether spending few bucks for Galaxy J7 is worthy or not, check out our detailed comparison featured right below!

moto-g3-1 moto-g3-2

Samsung, Galaxy J7-2 Samsung, Galaxy J7-1

Design

In terms of design, Moto G Gen 3 and Samsung Galaxy J7 can be described as two most beautiful phones in the budget segment. Both handsets boast an alluring look from all angles and give a nice grip for less-fiddly operation or gaming. Moto G (2015) looks identical to its predecessor from the front, but features an improved rear panel with a curved strip stretching from the camera module till the bumped Motorola logo. It lighter than Galaxy J7 at 155 grams, and can be customized with a bunch of swappable covers available online.

Samsung Galaxy J7, on the other hand, tips at 7.5mm and looks a whole lot slimmer than Moto G (Gen 3). It looks extremely appealing and comes with anti-smudge anodized CMF coating for giving a premium look without any smudges or fingerprints. It comes in limited color options (Black, White, Gold), but can certainly give best user experience with its slim and compact form factor. On whole, both phones are pretty good in terms of design and build quality!

Display

As far as display capabilities are considered, Moto G (Gen 3) and Galaxy J7 both pack a real punch with their HD-displays. On one hand, Moto G (Gen 3) ships with a 5-inch HD IPS display, protected by Corning Glass 3, while on the other, Galaxy J7 flaunts a bigger 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, but with no added protection. Also, the smaller display packed with Moto G (2015) features higher pixel density and gives an improved visual experience with rich color rendering and better contrasts. It might not be a super AMOLED, but is still better than Galaxy J7.

Hardware

Under the hood, Moto G (Gen 3) and Samsung Galaxy J7 power up by totally different processors. On one hand, Galaxy J7 powers up by company’s own Exynos 7580 processor with eight cores clocked at 1.5GHz, coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and Mali-T720MP2 GPU, while on the other, Moto G (Gen 3) boasts a Snapdragon 410 processor with four cores clocked at 1.4GHz, paired with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 306GPU. Moto G definitely looks stronger, but considering the faster processor of Galaxy J7, this round will be clear tie between the two phones.

Software

On the software front, Moto G (Gen 3) and Galaxy J7 again go head to head by running the latest iteration of Android straight out-of-the box. On one hand, Moto G runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with a very clean stock-like interface, while on the other, Galaxy J7 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with improved TouchWiz skin on the top. Both phones work really well, and best user experience without lags or thermal issues!

Camera

For photography enthusiasts, Moto G (Gen 3) and Galaxy J7 are two best camera phones in the budget segment. Both handsets feature identical camera capabilities, and go head to head with a 13-megapixel rear and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. They produce ideal snaps under daylight and lowlight conditions, and give prolific photography experience with a bunch of features like, face detection, HDR mode, panorama, and geotagging. But, for selfie lovers, Galaxy J7 with its front-facing flash stands a better option to consider.

Storage

In terms of storage, Moto G (Gen 3) and Galaxy J7 both go head to head with 16GB of internal memory. Both phones offer expandability via micro-SD card, and offer sufficient room for keeping rich collection of apps, docs, and medial files. But if you want more space for keeping a bigger selection of files, Galaxy J7 with expandability by up to 128 gigs will be a better choice Moto G (Gen 3) with expansion just up to 32GB.

Connectivity

On the connectivity front, Galaxy J7 and Moto G (Gen 3) go head to head with options like, Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE, A-GPS, 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth, and micro-USB 2.0. Both phones give smooth browsing experience, and deliver lightening and upload speeds with improved LTE capabilities. Plus, they also pack a bunch of sensors such as, accelerometer, ambient light sensors, proximity sensor, and gyroscope.

Battery

In terms of power efficiency, Moto G (Gen 3) looks a little weak against Samsung Galaxy J7. The selfie-focused beauty from Samsung is backed by a long-lasting 3000mAh battery, while Moto G (Gen 3) houses a very small 2,470mAh battery. No doubt, Moto G can also hold sufficient amount of juice throughout the day. But, if you want more power for heavy usage, Galaxy J7 is surely a better choice to consider.

Price

Here in India, Moto G 3rd Generation is offered at Rs. 12,999, while Galaxy J7 is coming at a slightly higher Rs. 14,999. Both phones were launched as a Flipkart exclusive product, and are currently available with several offers from both companies.

Final Verdict

The face-off between Moto G (Gen 3) and Galaxy J7 was close, but in our opinion, the new Moto G looks like a better player against Galaxy J7. Apart from smaller battery life, the waterproof friend from Motorola serves well under all categories. It packs real powerful with more RAM, and looks extremely beautiful with a sharp display and customizable rear panels.

No doubt, Galaxy J7 is also a nice handset, but spending extra bucks for a bigger display, expandable memory, and front-facing flash is surely not a thing for most of us!

Is the Kindle Fire 2 an another Failed ‘iPad Killer’ with the Updates Being Promised?

Kindle Fire Tablet is the latest version of the famous Kindle fire eBook reader that was produced in 2011. Recently, Amazon announced that it promises updates, which will make this tablet even better. It will comprise of multi-touch features; but this gives rise to the big question. Is Kindle Fire another failed ‘iPad Killer’?

Is the Kindle Fire an iPad Killer - iPad vs Kindle Fire
Is the Kindle Fire an iPad Killer - iPad vs Kindle Fire

A spokesman for Amazon said that the company will run an over-the-air software update for Kindle Fire. The possibilities with this are still uncertain, however if this works well enough a lot can be achieved. Even New York Times has been keeping up with the latest developments as they unfold. The company has published reviews about the product on their website. It seems that these reviews are very positive and the Kindle Fire is over-taking the iPad.

According to reviews, the reason behind this success is the pricing. It seems Kindle Fire is becoming an iPad killer because its prices are nominal compared to that of the iPad. Why won’t users opt for the Kindle Fire, which has most things an iPad has and at cheap prices? Besides, users have shared the same opinion over the internet. They all say that Kindle Fire is a spectacular device that makes them proud.

They can use the internet, have web meetings, browse and download eBooks all at the same time.

Amazon Kindle Fire
Amazon Kindle Fire

According to Amazon representatives, Chicago Sun Times and Gizmodo also advertise Kindle Fire with new updates as the best device for internet use. However, according to Times it seems there are some less complementary comments to be seen. Nonetheless, with all good things, there are some pitfalls. While most users praise Kindle Fire, there will always be some disgruntled users.

What most users like about the Kindle Fire is that it is small and easy to use with a Mediocre Touchpad. This makes it good for kids as well. Most parents feel it helps their kids learn new things faster as it is easy to use. On the other hand, criticism comes from users who want Kindle Fire to have a camera. With such comments, the rating of Kindle Fire comes at four out of five. Regardless, it is still over-taking the iPad.

Times news reported that the most common complaint most users had about Kindle Fire was that the tablet lacked external sound control. Besides, the off switch could easily be triggered accidentally. Some also complained that the web pages took longer to load. The touch-screen often fails to respond as expected.

Despite quite a number of complaints, Kindle Fire has proved itself as a preferred choice by millions within a short frame of time. People say it is a far better option than the iPad.

Nielsen thumbs down Kindle Fire and thumbs up iPad
Nielsen thumbs down Kindle Fire and thumbs up iPad

The usability expert, Nielsen had a different opinion as compared to what seems obvious. He mentioned that the US$100 billion worth of global market for the tablet was disappointing. He expressed his personal opinion that Kindle Fire was going to be a big failure. Therefore, he wouldn’t recommend it for people.

This raises more curiosity about how Amazon had made millions of dollars through marketing Kindle Fire. Obviously, there seems to be hope for the Kindle because need for digital technology continues to grow. So far, the market for Kindle Fire seems to be growing as demand for latest technology keeps growing. It is likely that Nielsen’s predictions fail and Kindle succeeds as an iPad Killer.

There is also the possibility that Kindle may not be a great success as its inventor hopes. However, for now it sure is making a reputation as the iPad Killer. Most iPad users have also started taking an interest in Kindle. However, the fact is that Kindle Fire is most popular among the youth that is fond of reading eBooks.

Make Free Voice Calls to US & Canada from Android GrooVe IP by Wi-Fi or 3G/4G (Using Google Voice) | Call US Toll-Free | Alternative to Skype Mobile

I have seen folks looking for the android apps which can let them call free in United Stated and Canada, if not all then at least the toll-free ones.

GrooVe IP uses Google Voice service to call any phone number. [Google Voice provides unlimited calls to United States (US) and Canada, and cheaper international calls].

Though there is an Official Android Version of Google Voice, but it only connects with your Google Account and doesn’t provide a Smartphone VOIP features like Google Voice on Gmail or Skype.

But now with GrooVe IP app you can use your Google Voice account and call all the phone numbers directly from your Android Smartphone. This android software supports receiving and making calls over the Wi-Fi or 3G/4G network, so their is no need to worry about the voice minutes. You can also use this app to make free calls to any US Toll-Free number from your Android Phone or Tablet PC.

Groove IP app is really useful when you are in Wi-Fi Hostspot region or using 3G connection. This app syncs your all your Phone Contacts, and contains a separate dialer in it.

Here is the method for installing and making call by Groove IP :
